Bear Hands Studio, located in New Bern NC, can help you reach your pottery nirvana. Hand-building with slabs and coils, or throwing on the wheel- get your paws muddy! Lessons are approximately 2 hours.
Clay Date: A fun one-time Clay Date is a chance to get your paws into the clay and try it out with a friend. You can try the potter's wheel or do a hand-building project working with slabs, pinching or coiling the clay. Your project is fired and glazed for you and ready to pick up in 4 weeks. You can also do groups up to 4. Ages 10 and up, children must be accompanied by a parent.
6-week Lessons: A more serious program where you'll be learn all the basics of throwing on the wheel. We cover basic cylinders and bowls, trimming, making handles, lids and glazing. You can also opt to learn some hand-building techniques, which do not involve the wheel at all or do all hand-building projects. Ages 12 and up.
We also offer a 30 minute consult for more the more experienced potter who need to fine tune some aspect of their throwing skills.
